The question
Does taurine supplementation slow aging?
Study design
Studies in mice, worms and monkeys plus human cohort associations (2023). [1]
What they found
Blood taurine fell with age in several species. Supplementing middle-aged mice extended median lifespan by about 10 to 12% and improved several health measures. [1]
Limitations
Later work questioned whether taurine reliably declines with age in humans. No human trials of aging outcomes.
What this does not mean
Promising animal data is not evidence of benefit in people.
