The question
Is urolithin A safe and does it affect human muscle?
Study design
First-in-human randomized, placebo-controlled trial in healthy older adults (2019). [1]
What they found
Urolithin A was well tolerated and produced a molecular signature consistent with improved mitochondrial and cellular health in muscle. [1]
Limitations
Molecular markers, short duration, funded by the company that developed it.
What this does not mean
Better markers do not yet equal better strength or longevity.
